These now outdated technology probably seem like a distant memory. Though, in reality, it wasn’t all that long ago…
I remember when Asia Media first opened its doors, we used to store copies of all our clients’ projects on CDs and DVDs. I remember when external hard drives were the size of a toaster, and only stored 120GB. And I remember how thumbdrives had to be carefully looked after as they were so expensive to replace.
My oh my, how times have changed.
You probably hope your service provider, whether it’s IT support or graphic design, has evolved with the times. And I can assure you Asia Media has.
In this article, I’d like to share with you how Asia Media manages your data and protects the creative work we deliver to you. But first, what exactly do we mean by protection? And why is it important?
Why protecting the data we create for you is important
“Data” and “protection”. These two words might come across a bit confusing, so let’s define them. When AMS uses the word data, we’re referring to the creative works we deliver to you: logos, brochures, illustrations, etc.
When we use the word “protection”, we’re referring to the process by which we backup copies of your data (creative work) and ensure it is safe from theft.
So why is this important? It’s happened hundreds of times over they years…a client misplaces or accidently deletes the creative work we delivered, and they ask if we have another copy. Of course, we always do.
In fact, we never delete any of the creative work we deliver to you.
How we protect your data today
For each of our clients, we create an individual client folder. This folder contains all the creative work we made for you, and it enables us to find your data quickly and easily.
All of your creative works are backed up on 3 different systems: the local computer it was created on, network attached storage (a physical hard drive) and online on Google Drive. We do this to ensure there is always a backup of your data available to you. For example, if there’s a power outage and your data can’t be accessed via our local computers or drive, we can still access your creative work online via Google Drive.
We always have a fail-safe method to ensure a backup of your data is accessible.
What about security?
At AMS, we take security very seriously. Client folders can’t be deleted by anyone but the management team.
We also have a secure wifi connection that can’t be accessed outside the building. And to ensure your data isn’t stolen, we take extra precautions. For example, a password must be input to use any USB key. This prevents thieves from stealing your data via this method.
